Youth Players Invited to Join the Scorpions at UMass Dartmouth
The Scorpions are expanding into the South Coast region of Massachusetts with the introduction of a skills program for 7-10-year-olds to be run by the Scorpions Soccer Club’s Junior Academy at UMass Dartmouth.
The Braintree-based club has established a strong reputation for developing highly technical players, although most of their success has been with girls’ teams. The new program will be for both boys and girls, and will focus on teaching and polishing basic soccer skills.
The Scorpions Juniors training pool has produced three youth national team players, and every year Scorpions players are vigorously recruited by top colleges not only in New England, but throughout the rest of the county.
Most top coaches consider the prime learning years for soccer technique to be U7 to U12. The program’s aim is to train good athletes with solid fundamental skills, and teach them basic soccer principles and the fundamental skills of the game in a fun-filled environment.
The skills program begins on September 12 and will run every Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5.30 – 7:00. The program is year-round, and will move indoors in during the winter. It's free to try the program, and all interested players are welcome to attend.
Parents of players who are interested in attending should contact staff coach Patrick Marino at 781-831-0669 or email Patrick@southcoastscorpions.com.
