Shrewsbury went 3-0 in the tournament -- which also featured Agawam, Portsmouth, Natick, two teams from Wellesley, Northborough and Holliston -- to remain unbeaten this fall at 5-0-1.

Playing through the preliminary rounds, the Hurricanes earned wins over Holliston (1-0), Wellesley (3-0), and Northborough (5-0). Shrewsbury then beat a physical Agawam team, 1-0, setting up a date with defending champions Holliston in the final.

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead then added two more for a 4-1 championship-clinching victory.

"I am proud of every one of the girls for stepping up their game," said Shrewsbury coach Jeff Hanam. "We had four injuries to key players in the days before the tournament and had as little as two subs each game. The girls rallied and played impressive team soccer throughout the weekend."
