Vermont Women's Coach Resigns
Catamounts Finished Year 3-14-1
November 13, 2007
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont women’s soccer coach Kerry Dziczkaniec resigned just over two weeks after her team completed its dismal 2007 campaign, finishing 3-14-1.
Dziczkaniec’s resignation, effective immediately, comes after four years at the helm of the program during which she posted a 25-42-6 record.
This season, Vermont had one of the youngest teams in the league with 15 freshmen on the squad. The Catamounts finished seventh in America East with a 2-6-0 mark.
Dziczkaniec did make some progress during her time at the helm. She coached four all-rookie selection and six players earned America East All-Conference honors.
In 2004, Dziczkaniec led the Catamounts to their first regular season tournament title away from Burlington at the Brown & Gold Shootout at the University of Wyoming. UVM also earned its first victory over Boston University in Burlington with a 4-0 shutout.
In her second season, UVM advanced to the America East Tournament for the first time in seven years, earning the No. 4 seed. In 2006, the Catamounts were the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament.
"I feel confident at this time the foundation for long term success is in place,” Dziczkaniec said in a statement. “I know and trust this program will go on to win many championships."
A national search for a head coach will begin immediately. Assistant coach Steph Mead will oversee the program in the interim.
