Vermont Wins Border War

Prevail Over New Hampshire, 1-0, in Rival Battle

June 22, 2008

After a hotly contested 1-1 draw earlier in the season, the rival New Hampshire Phantoms and Vermont Voltage engaged in another close contest, this one decided by the Voltage, who walked off with a 1-0 victory.

Forward Matt Stedman took hold of the game for the Voltage in the 42nd minute when he beat a Phantom defender and the keeper to score the lone goal of the match.

After receiving his first yellow card caution in the 20th minute, veteran Bo Simic was sent off in the 63rd, after receiving his second yellow card, resulting in an automatic red card. Still, the Voltage managed to hang on for the 1-0 victory, improving to 3-5-1 on the season.
