Wildcats Get First America East Victory

DURHAM, N.H. – A second-half goal from Chris Banks led the Hew Hampshire men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Maine Wednesday night.
Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the first half. The Wildcats (6-2-2, 1-1-0 America East) held a slim 8-6 edge in shots in the first half. Maine (3-5-2, 0-1-1) keeper Nemanja Kostic and UNH keeper Colin O'Donnell were each forced to make two saves.
UNH tallied the lone goal of the game at 59:16. Sean Coleman played the ball to Banks, who was able to beat his defender and found the bottom right corner of the goal, beating Kostic. For Banks, it was his sixth goal of the season.
The goal ended Maine shutout streak of 372:47. Prior to the goal by Banks, the last time Maine allowed a goal was on Sept. 14 against Iona.
UNH finished with a 10-15 edge in shots. Kostic made four saves in the loss and falls to 2-3-2 on the season. O'Donnell made four save for New Hampshire.
Alex Rickett led Maine with four shots, including two on goal.
