Oct. 8, 2009

LOWELL, Mass. -- Junior forward Brianne Bozzella (Wilmington, Mass.) and senior goalkeeper Jamie Gillis (North Billerica, Mass.) were named the Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, by the Northeast-10 Conference after leading the UMass Lowell womens soccer team to a 2-0 clip last week.

UMass Lowell defeated C.W. Post, 2-0, Wednesday and Pace, 1-0, Saturday to improve to 8-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 in the NE-10.

The wins extended the River Hawks unbeaten streak to a school-record nine matches (7-0-2), which includes eight straight shutouts and 852 scoreless minutes, both school records.

Bozzella scored UMass Lowells first goal in the 28th minute in the win over C.W. Post and notched her fifth of the season in the 52nd minute in the win at Pace.

Gillis, named the NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season, stopped four shots against C.W. Post and five in the win over Pace to record the 31st and 32nd clean sheets of her career.
