Locals Named to Team of the Week

July 14, 2009

Locals Abby Crumpton and Sydney Stoll have been named to the WPSL Team of the Week, while Jenna Roncarati was an honorable mention.

Crumpton - a developmental player for the Boston Breakers of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) - scored a hat trick in the Boston Aztecs’ 3-0 win over Adirondack Lynx. Crumpton nearly netted a fourth as the undefeated Aztecs prepare to host the playoffs this weekend.

Stoll, a University of Massachusetts forward, has begun to find her form for the New England Mutiny after returning from injury. It couldn’t happen at a better time, as she scored two vital goals, including the game-winner in New England’s largest win of the season, a 6-0 verdict over Philadelphia.

Bay State Select can celebrate their first-ever postseason appearance thanks to the effort from Roncarati, who scored the tying goal in the 2-2 draw against Boston - the only blemish this season for the undefeated WPS affiliate.
