CityKicks Set to Host Annual Ice Breaker Tournament
February 27, 2009
CityKicks will host the 4th annual Ice Breaker Tournament once again this March at Harvard University.
This year’s event will be held Saturday, March 28. An All-women’s 7v7 round-robin tournament, the Ice Breaker is a fundraiser for CityKicks, a Boston non-profit providing soccer and academic enrichment after school to over 300 inner-city girls who have no other opportunity to learn and play the world’s favorite game.
CityKicks was started 10 years ago by Cambridge soccer mom and player Anne Strong and this fall it merged with America Scores New England to expand its reach and resources.
There will be two divisions in the tournament, one open division and one for over-40 women.
This year, the Ice Breaker will welcome back the Boston Breakers, who will provide player appearances and surprise giveaways to those in attendance.
