Terriers Sweep America East Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Boston University staked claim to this week’s America East soccer honors.

Marisha Schumacher-Hodge was named America East women’s Player of the Week and teammate Stephanie Croghan was selected Rookie of the Week.

For the men’s side, freshman Aaron O’Neal was tabbed as the America East Rookie of the Week.

Schumacher-Hodge scored a goal and added two assists as the Terriers posted a pair of wins. She had two assists, including her helper on the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win at Maine Thursday. She then scored the game-winner in a 2-0 win over UMBC Sunday.

Croghan scored a goal in each of the Terriers’ wins. She had an insurance goal in the 68th minute in the win over Maine and netted a 16th-minute goal in the win over UMBC.

O’Neal scored both goals in BU men’s win over Maine and had an assist in the victory over Penn State. Against the Black Bears, he tallied his first goal of the game in the 43rd minute after picking up the rebound off his own shot and putting it past the Maine keeper.

He added an insurance goal in the 53rd minute when he received a pass from Jin Oh deep down the right side of the field.

In the Terriers’ match against Penn State, O’Neal redirected a pass from Samuel Appiah to Shaun Taylor who turned and fired his shot in to the back of the net.

O’Neal’s match against Maine was his first career multiple-goal game, and three of his five goals this season have been game-winners. He is BU’s leading scorer with five goals and two assists for 12 points.

He is the second BU men’s freshman to receive league honors after classmate Daniel Chu during the week of Sept. 4.
