Late Goal Gives Purple Knights Win

COLCHESTER, VT – A 83rd-minute strike from Tim Warren broke a 0-0 deadlock to give St. Michael’s a 1-0 upset victory over No. 4 UMass-Lowell in Division II action Tuesday.
The loss ended the River Hawks five-game winning streak and dropped their record to 8-2-1 (6-2-0 Northeast-10). The Purple Knights, meanwhile, improved to 9-2-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the NE-10.
Saint Michael’s goal was only the fifth surrendered this season by the UML defense. The River Hawks outshot the Purple Knights, 11-8 overall and also posted a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.
UMass-Lowell sophomore Ryan Richards (Holden, MA) had two saves while senior Tim Williamson stopped five shots for Saint Michael’s.
