Southern New Hampshire Coach Resigns
Anderson Leaves After First sub-.500 Season
November 2, 2007
MANCHESTER, N.H. – After a season in which his team finished a disappointing 5-8-5, Southern New Hampshire men’s soccer coach Dave Anderson announced his resignation Thursday, effective Nov. 30.
Anderson compiled a 33-30-13 record in his four seasons heading the Division II program. The Penmen reached the Northeast-10 Tournament in each of Anderson’s four seasons and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2006. This was his first season with a sub-.500 record as SNHU finished at 5-8-5 overall and 5-6-2 in the Northeast-10.
“I would like to thank Dave for his efforts with the men’s soccer program over the past 10 years, both as head coach and as an assistant,” SNHU Director of Athletics Chip Polak said in a statement released by the university. “We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
Anderson was named the sixth head coach in program history on April 7, 2004. Prior to being named head coach, Anderson was an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program for six seasons, during which time SNHU made four NCAA appearances and advanced to the Division II championship game in 2002.
The Manchester, N.H. resident was a member of the Southern Connecticut State University’s 1987 national championship team.
The University said a national search for Anderson’s successor will begin immediately.
