So-So Weekend for Maine Teams
Sting Open with Draw; Tide Loses

BANGOR, Maine – The new PSL teams in Maine had a so-so showing this Memorial Day weekend with the men’s Sting team drawing, 1-1, with the AC Diablos and the women’s Tide falling 3-1 to the Diablos women’s team.
Alexader Devereaux scored the Sting’s first ever goal in the 39th minute, heading a free kick by Stephen Grooms past Diablos goalkeeper Buddy Custer for a 1-0 lead.
Atlantic City got the equalizer when Evan Jaep and Roger Kummer combined on a short corner kick and Jaep’s shot defelcted off a defender and into the goal.
Sting goalkeeper David Stevenson had four saves while Custer had five.
Meanwhile, Alicia Hall scored two goals to lead the female AC Diablos to a 3-1 win over the Tide.
Hall headed in a corner from Danielle Wessler in the 75th minute for the game winner. She gave the Diablos a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute on a give and go with Kristen Edmonds before putting a shot into the upper corner.
Wessler made it 2-0 in the opening minutes of the first half. Maine cut the lead in the 71st minute on a goal by Laura Harper.
