More than two months after his arrest for allegedly assaulting his two daughters and placement on leave of absence, Clemson University mens soccer coach Trevor Adair has resigned.
After a great deal of thought and prayer, Adair said in a statement released by the school, I believe the time is right to pursue other opportunities in coaching and to help transition the Clemson program to new leadership.
According to published reports, the 48-year old Adair, former mens soccer coach at Brown, was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond after being charged with two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Reports say police responded to reports of a fight and were told by witnesses that Adair struck his two daughters several times, causing minor injuries, according to published reports.
Adair has a 208-115-33 record in 18 seasons as a head coach at Brown and Clemson. He led the Tigers to the 2005 Mens College Cup semifinals and five appearances in the NCAA Division I quarterfinals.
