Simmons Shares Performer of the Week
Ties UMass Shutout Record
October 2, 2007
AMHERST, Mass. – UMass men’s soccer goalkeeper Zach Simmons was named Atlantice 10 Co-Performer of the Week after recording his 16th career shutout Saturday in a 1-0 win over Boston University.
The 16 shutouts tie Simmons with Bryan O’Quinn for the school record.
This is Simmons’ fourth A-10 weekly honor in his three seasons at UMass. He now has two shutouts on the year after posting a school single-season record 10 in 2006 and four in 2005.
Simmons will also be honored as the UMass Athlete of the Week, the third such time he’s earned the distinction.
The Durham, N.H., native has started all eight games in net for UMass this season, going 4-4. He has a 0.98 goals-against average and a 78.9 save percentage. He has allowed eight goals while making 30 saves.
