December 1, 2008

Setanta Sports kicks off its U.S. launch on Comcast with a party at Game On on Boston’s Lansdowne Street.

Revolution coach Steve Nicol is scheduled to appear at the Dec. 13 event, where patrons can watch Liverpool take on Hull City at 9:30 a.m. on the new Setanta channel now available for order on Comcast.

Guests can also enjoy a FIFA ’09 tournament, free brunch presented by Game On, and gift bags for the first 50 guests.

Admission to the Boston launch party is free and open to all ages.

Setanta’s North America operations comprise both residential channel and commercial venue businesses which provide a market leading lineup of soccer and rugby from around the world. Setanta launched in Boston and Brookline last week.

“We are excited that Comcast will be providing subscribers in Boston and Brookline the best international sports programming, 24 hours a day, on Setanta Sports,” said Roger Hall, Managing Director of Setanta Sports International.

The Ireland based sports network provides its customers with 24-access to the best live European sporting events. This includes The Barclays Premier League, The Champions League, The FA Cup and World Cup & European Championship Qualifiers, The IRB Rugby World Cup, The Six Nations, The Tri-Nations, The Guinness Premiership & Heineken Cup.

“We’re thrilled to enhance our sports programming in Boston and Brookline with the addition of Setanta Sports,” said Paul D’Arcangelo, Vice President of Comcast in Metro Boston. “Customers in Boston and Brookline are the first in New England to experience the consumer benefits of converting to a nearly all digital network. As other communities enter the ‘digital world,’ our customers will be amazed by what Comcast’s advanced fiber-optic network can deliver – even faster Internet speeds, even more HD choices and even more international programming.”

The channel is available on Channel 761 for $14.95 per month. To learn more about Comcast or to order Setanta Sports, customers can contact Comcast at 1-800-COMCAST.
