As part of the trip, the Connecticut team will get to do more than just play soccer. They will get the opportunity to experience Italian culture. The team arrives in Rome on April 19th and will enjoy some leisure time in the ancient city.
On Trip Day 4, April 21st, it is off to the Florence area, arriving in Coverciano and visiting the Italian Soccer Federation museum before taking part in a pro training session with an italian licensed coach in Coverciano, which is the Italian National Teams and federation official sport centre. The next day, the team will visit one of the oldest farms in Tuscany as well as the famous city of Pisa before taking part in an international friendly match vs. a local Italian team.
Before departing for home on April 26th, the team will take part in the tournament from April 23rd to April 25th. Other teams particpating in the tournament include F.C. Internazionale, Atalanta, Juventus, Fiorentina, Lucchese, Sampdoria, Empoli, Margine Coperta, F.C. Spezia, Catania, and Tau Calcio Altopascio from Italy, FSM Meckesheim from Germany, FC Nordsjaelland from Denmark, and Grankulla IFK from Finland.
Ironically, the Samba TTP team will not be the only New England-based team particpating in the tournament. The ACA Azzurri, a Massachusetts team funded in part by AC Arlington Soccer Club and made up of players from other clubs as well, will also be at the tournament. Good luck to all the boys - we hope you enjoy the trip.
