Harvard and Hartford Freshmen Shine
October 8, 2008
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.— Great goalkeeping and timely scoring earned two local freshman conference honors this week.
Hartford's Patrick Boucher’s game-winning goal last week earned him America East Rookie of the Week accolades, the conference announced this week, and the play in net of Harvard’s Austin Harms earned the frosh Ivy league Rookie of the Week.
TBoucher scored the lone goal in the Hawks’ 1-0 win over New Hampshire in the conference opener for both teams on Saturday.
The goal, Boucher’s second of his career, came in the 42nd minute. The native of Cromwell, Connecticut is second on Hartford with five points this season.
Harms earned his first career shutout and win as Harvard downed archrival Yale, 1-0, Oct. 4.
Harms made two saves, both coming in the first half, against the Bulldogs to help the Crimson to its first Ivy League victory of the year. The Crimson controlled most of the action against the Bulldogs, outshooting Yale, 25-7, but Harms stood tall when needed.
In two games this fall, he has three saves and a 0.67 goals-against average in 135 minutes of action.
