Revs Announce 2008 Schedule

Club Also Participating In SuperLiga
February 7, 2008

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Revolution released their 2008 regular-season schedule Thursday, a 30-game slate that begins March 29 with an MLS Cup rematch against two-defending champion Houston Dynamo at Gillette Stadium.

Major League Soccer also announced that the Revs will be one of four MLS teams participating in SuperLiga, the U.S.-Mexico club tournament featuring a $1 million grand prize for the winner.

The season-opening match at Gillette marks the first time ever the Revs will open the season with a home game. But they shouldn’t get used to the friendly confines for The Razor, because six of their first 10 matches are on the road.

The Revolution will have 18 of its 30 matches televised nationally, with six ESPN Primetime Thursday matches, four exclusive Fox Soccer Channel/Fox Soccer en Español telecasts, six HDNet broadcasts and two TeleFutura matches. Twenty of the Revs’ matches - including those with national broadcasts on HDNet and Telefutura - will be televised by the team’s exclusive regional partner, TV38 (WSBK-TV).

New England will play just one MLS game during the month of July - a Fourth of July meeting with the Galaxy at The Home Depot Center - before playing in SuperLiga group play for the rest of the month. D.C. United, Houston Dynamo and Chivas USA will join the Revs in SuperLiga. More details about the tournament will be announced at a later date.

Revolution fans can also meet some of the club’s players during the team’s season-opening promotional tour that will visit four towns in Massachusetts.

The free event begins on Wednesday, Feb. 27, with a stop at the Topsfield Sports Arena in Topsfield Mass. On Saturday, March 8, the Revs will visit the Mansfield Sportsplex in Mansfield, Mass., before wrapping up the tour with a pair of stops on Sunday, March 9 in Framingham, Mass. (Suburban Athletic Club) and Hingham, Mass. (South Shore Sports Center).

Revs players will help Revolution Academy instructors holding clinics and will be on hand for autograph and photo sessions with fans. Admission to all four tour stops is free of charge.
