The Revs and Galaxy will meet at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., at 11 p.m. ET, in a match that will be televised nationally on Fox Soccer Channel. This will be the second consecutive year in which the Revolution opens its season on the west coast, as the club began the 2009 season in San Jose.
We’re looking forward to kicking off our historic 15th season against one of our biggest rivals in LA,” Revolution Chief Operating Officer Brian Bilello said.
In Week 2, the Revs will travel to our Nation’s Capital to play one of their most bitter rivals, D.C. United, on Saturday, April 3.
The Revolution will open its 15-game regular-season home schedule in Week 3, when Toronto FC visits Gillette Stadium on Saturday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. New England and Toronto have developed a fierce rivalry since TFC entered the league as an expansion team in 2007, although the Revs have owned the series in Foxboro, going an undefeated 3-0-1 at home against their Canadian opponent.
“Both the Revolution and Major League Soccer have made tremendous strides throughout our first 14 seasons, and we’re very excited for 2010,” Bilello said. “Not only will we celebrate our club and league’s 15th anniversary, but the soccer world will also unite in the summer months for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
“With each MLS team playing a balanced schedule for the first time ever in 2010, next season is poised to be one the most exciting in league history. After beginning the season with two tough road matches, we’ll be looking forward to opening our home schedule on April 10 in front of our loyal home supporters.”
Broadcast information for the 2010 season will be released at a later date.
