Renegades Stretch Unbeaten Streak

Two Weekend Wins Runs Streak to Five Game

June 9, 2008

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Boston Renegades pushed their winning streak to five games this weekend with road victories over Fredericksburg Lady Gunners and Northern Virginia Majestics.

Lauren MacIver played the hero over the weekend, scoring three goals and adding two assists in the two triumphs, one a 6-0 rout of the Fredericksburg Lady Gunners Saturday and the other a 4-1 win over the Northern Virginia Royals on Sunday.

"For the second weekend in a row we have gone on the road and picked up two wins in two days" said Renegades coach Darren Gallagher. "The team spirit amongst our squad right now is fantastic."

In Saturday’s 6-0 win over the Lady Gunners, Boston’s Jamie Craft got her side off to a flying start with the opening goal after eight minutes. The Renegades went on to score three times before the interval with goals by Ashlee Pistorius, MacIver and Tori Huster.

In the second half, MacIver and Huster found the back of the net again to round out the romp.

"Saturday was a very professional performance by the entire team," said Gallagher. "Jamie set the ball rolling with a good early goal and front that point onwards, we were able to play with a very positive frame of mind."

The Renegades then traveled to Northern Virginia for their second game of the weekend and left with three precious W-League points after a 4-1 victory.

MT McDonnell settled the Renegades nerves with a goal either side of the interval. MacIver then notched her third goal of an impressive weekend in the 75th minute, while Rachel Lim tallied her first goal of the season in the 77th minute of play. The Majestics got a late consolation through Watson in the last minute of the game.

"On Sunday it was imperative that we picked up three points and again we approached the game with the right mentality," said Gallagher. "MT scored at a very good time for us after a sluggish start to the game and I think that gave us the boost to go on and get a further three goals in the second half."

The Renegades will host the Fredericksburg Lady Gunners Saturday 14th June at Whitman Hanson High School with kick off slated for 4.30pm.
