Renegade Keeper Nets Award
Burke Named W-League Player of the Week
June 6, 2008
Boston Renegades goalkeeper Meghann Burke was named the W-League’s Player of the Week after posting two shutouts on the road last week.
Burke posted back-to-back road shutouts last weekend to help improve Boston's record to 4-1. She first held the defending W-League Champion Washington Freedom scoreless, and then did the same to a strong Jersey Sky Blue side, picking up 10 saves to accompany her clean sheets. On the season she has only allowed two goals in four games, playing in arguably the toughest division in the league.
Burke’s teammate, Mary McDonnell, was an honorable mention for the league’s Team of the Week. McDonnell scored the game-winning goal in Boston’s win over Washington.
