Regional Honor for SNHU Coach

Hubbard Earns DII East Region COTY

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire University men’s soccer coach Marc Hubbard was named the NSCAA/adidas Division II East Region Coach of the Year. Hubbard is now eligible for Division II Coach of the Year honors, which will be announced Jan. 16.

Hubbard, a former assistant at New Hampshire, led the Penmen to a 10-game improvement in his first season with the team. After going 5-8-5 a season ago, Southern New Hampshire posted a 15-3-4 mark in 2008, finishing the season with a final rank of No. 11 in the Division II national poll.

The Penmen captured a share of the Northeast-10 regular season title for the first time in program history, won the program’s third NE-10 Tournament title and earned SNHU’s 14th NCAA Tournament bid. Hubbard was also honored as the Northeast-10 Coach of the Year.

Southern New Hampshire had four players named to the Daktronics Division II All-America team, highlighted by Matt Delaney’s First Team selection. A total of nine players received Northeast-10 All-Conference recognition, highlighted by Adrian Schippers being named NE-10 Player of the Year and Sean Lambert receiving NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Year accolades.

Prior to his arrival at SNHU, Hubbard, a native of Durham, NH, spent five seasons as an assistant coach at UNH and helped guide the Wildcats to a pair of America East semifinal appearances.
