Reds Topple Aztec Women

SoccerPlus Beats Boston, 3-0

June 1, 2008

The Boston Aztec (1-1-0) WPSL team will head back to the drawing board after a 3-0 loss to the SoccerPlus CT Reds (4-0-0) on Saturday.

The Aztecs started well, generating the first chance of the night in the opening minutes of the match when Rebekah Splaine was unable to convert when left alone 10 yards from goal. The Reds then got their feet moving and struck for a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when Erika Sutton scored on a 30-yard blast assisted by Katie Schoepfer.

After the halftime interval, the Reds came out on fire, going up 2-0 in minute 48 when Schoepfer got her second point of the night, scoring on a feed from Magdalena Tomecka. The Reds completed the scoring when Caroline Walden sent a long free kick into the box that was eventually knocked home by Kristy Zurmuhlen in the 67th minute.
