Reds, Mutiny Begin Postseason

Both in Thick of WPSL Playoffs

July 22, 2008

The undefeated SoccerPlus Reds and the defending East Champion New England Mutiny will begin their respective WPSL playoff runs starting this Friday.

After their 2-0 win over the second-place Mutiny (10-2-0) in a big showdown last Friday night, SoccerPlus CT and their head coach Tony DiCicco clinched the North Division title.

The Reds will take their spotless record (12-0-0) into the postseason as host of the winner of Tuesday’s make-up game between Atlantic City and Lancaster. SoccerPlus will host either the Diablos or Inferno at 7:00 p.m. this Friday at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in New Britain, Connecticut.

The Atlantic Division’s first-place team – the Long Island Fury (9-1-1) – will take on the 2007 East champion & National Finalist Mutiny this Friday at 8:00 p.m. at Tully Park in Hempstead, NY. If the undefeated Reds are victorious, they will also host the East Final this Sunday, July 27 for one of the four berths into the WPSL Championship.
