Pioneer Men on Right Track

Tie Cleveland, 2-2

June 2, 2008

Neil Krause scored a goal and assisted on another in the Western Mass. Pioneers’ 2-2 tie with the Cleveland City Stars Sunday afternoon at Lusitano Stadium.

All the scoring occurred in the first half, with the Pioneers starting the binge just eight minutes in when Krause fed Callum Bissett for the 1-0 lead.

Only 11 minutes later, the City Stars tied the match on a Sallieu Bundu goal, but Krause again stepped up, this time doing the damage on his own when he buried a Jeff Deren pass in the 35th minute.

However, Western Mass. couldn’t hang on for more than 10 minutes, surrendering a Dana McGregor strike that knotted the score at 2-2 in the last minute of the first half.

The Pioneers next play Crystal Palace Baltimore this Friday at Lusitano Stadium.
