Phantoms Gear Up for 2008
Close to Finalizing Roster for May Start
April 25, 2008
EAST HAMPSTEAD, N.H. – The New Hampshire Phantoms are close to finalizing their full roster for the upcoming 2008 season, a docket that includes two local standout goalkeepers and two international level players. The final roster is pending approval from the United Soccer League office.
UMass ‘keeper Zack Simmons and Providence netminder Tim Murray headline the list of local players, while Barbados international Romelle Burgess and Henrey Brauner of the Philippines give the roster some international flavor.
The Phantoms, who will compete in the Premier Development League division of the USL after moving down from the Second Division following their worst finish in franchise history, currently roster 11 players who have played for the NH Phantoms youth teams in the Super Y league.
Other local names on the squad include defender Matt Delaney (SNHU), midfielder AJ Dubois (UNH) and Derek Stenquist (Dartmouth).
The NH Phantoms kick off their season on Saturday May 3 at Manchester Memorial High School when they host the Long Island Rough Riders. The move back to the PDL also ensures some renewed rivalries with the likes of the Vermont Voltage, Cape Cod Crusaders, Rhode Island Stingrays, Long Island Rough Riders and Ottawa Fury.
