Phantoms Draw Rangers Again
New Hampshire Grabs Point on the Road
June 16, 2009
For the second time this season the New Hampshire Phantoms and the New Jersey Rangers played to a 1-1 draw.
Playing away from home on Saturday, the Phantoms fought off an early onslaught of pressure from the home team and scored the opening goal on a great effort from striker Chris Banks.
Banks received a pass from Scott Rowling wide right on the Rangers defensive third and walked in on the keeper before letting go a blast that put the Phantoms ahead, 1-0.
The second half saw New Jersey grab the equalizer on a goal by Chris Faustino playing in his first game for the Rangers.
"They out-shot us but we had the better scoring chances and could have won the game,” said Phantoms’ coach Jim Dedeus. “When playing on the road after traveling all day it makes it that much more difficult but we played well and had the chances to put the game away in the first half."
The Phantoms now 1-6-2 will travel to Ottawa tonight to take on the Fury.
