Northeastern Stays Hot at Home
Improves to 4-1 at Parson Field
October 15, 2007
Winless on the road, the Northeastern University men’s soccer team could get used to playing at home.
The Huskies (4-7) have earned all their wins this season playing at Parsons Field, upping their home record to a near-perfect 4-1 with Sunday’s 2-0 win over visiting Georgia State.
Northeastern controlled the ball for almost the entire game, getting on the board first in the 30th minute when freshman Santiago Bedoya sent a throw-in to senior Greg Kilkenny, who put the ball in front of the net for Lewis Ehrlich to knock in. It was the junior's second goal of the weekend and third of the year. The score going into the half was 1-0, but Northeastern had out-shot the Panthers 13-1.
Georgia State may have been fortunate to come out of the half just down one after being outshot 13-1 in the frame.
With 20 minutes to go in the game, NU forward Ahmed Talaat took a crisp pass Ehrlich in traffic, beat a defender and sent it into the upper-right part of the net for the 2-0 final.
Panthers goalkeeper Filipe Carvalho kept his team in the game, making 13 saves, including several diving stops.
Northeastern keeper Mahmoud Talaat made three saves for his second shutout of the year.
