Drop Close Decision in Overtime

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Northeastern men's soccer team’s disappointing season continued Sunday. The Huskies dropped to 2-7 when after losing a tough one in overtime, 2-1, to William & Mary.
William & Mary struck first about 20 minutes into the game, when Thomas Price stole the ball from the Husky defense inside the box and fired it into the net.
Four minutes into the second half Northeastern tied the score when Ahmed Talaat headed home a rebound off a Greg Kilkenny shot that Tribe goalkeeper Andrew McAdams initially blocked It was Talaat’s team-leading fourth goal of the season.
The rest of the second half went scoreless, but just a minute and a half into overtime William & Mary struck the golden goal. Doug Ernst had his shot blocked but quickly recovered it, sending it into the lower-right part of the goal past Northeastern goalkeeper Mahmoud Talaat.
The win improved William & Mary to 5-4-2.
