Northeastern Beats Georgia State

Napoli's Two Goals Buoy Huskies

October 18, 2008

The Northeastern women’s soccer team defeated Georgia State, 3-0 on Friday at Parsons Field.

Veronica Napoli scored twice and Jenna Lucchesi added another. Goalkeeper Stephanie Gordon recorded 4 saves in her fourth shutout of the season.

Lucchesi netted her first goal of the season, the game-winner, at 56:48 in the second half on an assist from Brenna Matthews. Matthews dribbled the ball within the box before dishing a pass off to Lucchesi who blasted a shot past Panther goalkeeper Heidi Blankenship.

Napoli tallied her team leading ninth goal of the season after she chipped one over the keeper at 81:59.

Napoli would be at it again just seven minutes later when she won the ball from Panther defender and fired a shot to the right side of the goal, beating the diving Blankenship.

The Huskies are back in action Sunday as they take on UNC Wilmington at 1 p.m. at Parsons Field.
