Monroe Earns WPSL Honors

Aztec's 4 Goals Puts Her on League's Team of the Week

June 16, 2009

Boston Aztec midfielder Mary-Frances Monroe has been named to the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Team of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday.

The defending 2008 WPSL East Player of the Year scored four goals in Aztec’s 8-0 win over the Maine Tide Saturday. Monroe - a former Boston Breaker who has been training regularly with the WPS side this season - helped Aztec improve its record to 5-0.

Incoming Boston College freshman Vicki DiMartino, who plays for the Long Island Fury, was named co-Player of the Week after combining for three goals and two assists in wins over the Philadelphia Liberty (3-1 on Thursday) and SoccerPlus CT Reds (3-2 on Monday).
