Local Youth Club Makes Top 25
FC Greater Boston Only New England Team On List
January 31, 2008
The FC Greater Boston Bolts were ranked No. 10 in Soccer America's annual Top 25 list of the best boy's clubs in the nation.
The Massachusetts club was the only team from New England to make the cut, jumping two spots from its No. 12 ranking in last year's poll.
Two former Bolts, Michael Videira (Duke) and Chris Tierney (Virginia), were recently drafted by the Revolution, although Videira is expected to pursue opportunities overseas. The Duke midfielder was picked in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft while Tierney was chosen in the first round of the Supplemental Draft.
They join former Boston College standout and current Hammerby IF and U.S. Under-23 forward Charlie Davies as FCGB alums who are playing professionally.
