NE Aztec's Christian Sady of North Andover Called to U14 National Team
March 12, 2009
Christian Sady of New England Aztec U14 boys team has been invited to play with the U14 National Team in Los Angeles this coming May after a strong performance with the team in January.
Sady, a native of North Andover, Mass., played for the U14 National Team in several exhibition matches in Mexico in January, including a 4-0 win over Chivas De San Rafael on Jan. 20.
Sady, who attends Buckingham Browne & Nichols and has also played with the Mass ODP and Region 1 ODP teams, was named a member of the US National Team player pool last summer. For the trip in January, he was the only Massachusetts player on a roster of 36. The team played multiple games in split squads and went undefeated.
"I was really excited when I was selected to play for the National Team in Mexico,” said Sady. “It was an honor to play for my country."
Sady described the level of play as exceptional, fast and very physical. Attributing the US victories to superior possession and better finishing, he said the National Team coaching staff had the team well prepared for the trip.
A member of the New England Aztecs since age 11, Sady helped his team win MAPLE-D in the spring of 2008, the Delta FC Memorial Weekend Tournament in 2008, and MAPLE D2 in the Fall of 2008, earning promotion to MAPLE D1 for this coming spring. This high-level training from professional coaches is something Sady sees as an important part of his continued development.
"I love the game and enjoy every minute I'm on the field. I need to keep working hard in all areas of the game and not take anything for granted," he said. "I have to continue to focus on my conditioning, my skills, and my creativity on the field, because those things are important to play at an extremely high level."
