Local Players Fill All-Northeast Team

Huskies Lead Way with Three First-Teamers

Three players from the University of Connecticut and two from Harvard highlight the 2007 NSCAA men's soccer Division I All-Region First Team announced this week.

UConn defender Julius James, midifelder Toni Stahl and forward O'Brian White earned first team nods. They were joined by Harvard forwards Andre Akpan and Michael Fucito and Hartford goalkeeper Matt Glaeser.

Of the 33 players selected to the Northeast region's First, Second and Third teams, 21 were from New England schools, including the six first teamers.

The Huskies also placed midfielders Hakeen Priestley and Ryan Cordiero on the Second Team. Joining them were Dartmouth goalie Sean Milligan, Providence midfielder Ryan Maduro, Brown defenders Rhett Bernstein and Matther Britner and Boston University midfielder Neil Hlavaty.

The thrid team comprised of eight more New England players.
