HAMDEN, Conn. - Connecticut FC AZUL have announced David Kelly as the first Head Coach in CFC AZUL franchise history. Kelly is currently the assistant coach of the Southern Connecticut State mens program but has left his mark on different programs in Connecticut. He's had coaching stints at Trinity College, Quinnipiac University and the Univeristy of Hartford.

Five New England-tied players invited to 2012 adidas MLS Combine
A total of 52 college seniors/redshirt juniors were selected to attend the 2012 adidas MLS Player Combine January 6-10 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and five are either New Englanders by birth or collegiate choice. When all is said and done, these players will join Generation adidas players, international invitees, additional college players from NCAA Division II and III schools, NAIA schools and other Division I invitees at the combine. NEWISA 2011 Senior Bowl Recap
Tessa Vercollone from St. Anselm tallied two goals, Sarah Hickey of Stonehill had a goal and assist and Colleen Pepin from Endicott tacked on two assists to help lead Sky Blue to a 6-4 victory over Gang Green in front of a crowd of 140 fans, friends and family members at the 2011 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) annual Senior Bowl.

New Englanders contribute to 2011 NCAA National Champions
All that’s left to wrap up the annual slate of NCAA soccer championships is the men’s College Cup, with the semifinals kicking off this Friday in Hoover, Ala. No New England-based colleges or universities will be taking part, nor did any local men’s DII or DIII teams, or local women’s DI, DII or DIII teams, end up playing for a championship. Jay Heaps to become new head coach
The Boston Globe is reporting that former Revs defender and current color commentator Jay Heaps is to be named the next Revolution head coach at a press conference on Tuesday. Heaps had a solid 10-year MLS career after a stellar college career at Duke. The Longmeadow High School graduate also earned four caps with the US National Team. More

When Steve Nicol was not brought back as head coach of the Revolution, it presented the possibility that other changes at the top could be forthcoming. Soccer New England speculated on this prior to Nicol's departure, and as it turns out we were right that Nicol could be shown the door but that Mike Burns and Brian Bilello could hold on to their jobs. But we never imagined that if the organization was in fact going to restructure that the two remaining leaders of the organization would get more responsibility. More

State championships are being fought for across the region. As of November 9, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine have all crowned their 2011 boys and girls champions. The New Hampshire D1 and D2 boys titles, along with Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and NEPSAC regional prep school titles, have yet to be decided. The 2011 season is mercifully coming to an end for the New England Revolution. As I sit here on October 22nd watching the team's final game of the season against Toronto FC (a 2-2 draw that saw the Revs surrender another late lead), I am pondering whether or not next season will be significantly better or more of the same. There are many questions and few answers for an educated yet disconnected observer such as myself. But as the season wraps up, it presents a chance to look backward and forward at the same time. Sorry, Charlie: Davies' lawsuit ignores his own poor decisions

This is a tough article to write. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Charlie Davies and his bravery in coming back from an accident that almost killed him. But something rubs me the wrong way about the recent $20 million lawsuit filed against the owner of a nightclub and the company that hosted the party that Davies was at the night he was injured.
