CHESNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College women’s soccer team still hasn’t lost.
The Eagles remained unbeaten on the season after tying Duke, 1-1, Friday at Newton Soccer Field
BC (7-0-2, 0-0-2 ACC) did outshoot Duke, 13-7, but it was the Blue Devils (6-2-3, 1-1-1) who struck first.
The Blue Devils scored at 58:50 in the second half when Elisabeth Redmond sent a ball in the box from the left of BC goalkeeper Sarah Buonomo. Duke midfielder Lorraine Quinn jumped on the loose ball and went to the far post past a diving Buonomo
The Eagles came back at 72:57 to tie the match at 1-1. Junior Caroline Walden sent freshman Natalie Crutchfield to the corner with a beautiful pass that slipped by the Duke defense. Crutchfield sent a low ball into the box, and freshman Brooke Knowlton one-timed it to the near post for her second goal of the season.
In overtime, both teams had chances. Off a corner kick from freshman Hannah Cerrone, Cruchfield deflected the ball just wide of goal with eight minutes to play. She had another chance off BC's second corner in the stanza and sent the ball just wide.
Both goalkeepers played strong as BC's Sarah Buonomo had five saves and improved to 7-0-3 on the season. Duke's keeper Allison Lipsher (6-2-3) had seven saves, none bigger than a point blank save on Gina DiMartino's shot in the first half.
