Indoor: Twisters Rocked By Rampage
Massachusetts Drops to 2-4 in AISL
January 6, 2008
LOVES PARK, Ill. -- The Massachusetts Twisters couldn't quell the Rampage, falling 17-5 to Rockport in American Indorr Soccer League action Saturday night, helping the Rampage extend their perfect season to 7-0 in front of 523 at the Victory Sports Complex.
Bato Radoncic and Novi Marojevic led the Rampage (7-0) in scoring with six points each (Marojevic scored 2 one-point goals and 4 assists and Radoncic scored 3 one-pointers and 3 assists). Zlatko Zebic set a personal record with four one-point goals and an assist.
Nick Burke led the scoring for the Twisters (2-4) with 2 one-point goals and one assist.
Dimitri “the Dominator” Meletis earned the win in goal for the Rampage, playing all sixty minutes and allowing five points. Paul Dellostritto took the loss, allowing all seventeen points in sixty minutes.
“We had a defensive collapse similar to what happened the last time we played here (a 23-15 loss on November 18th), said Twisters coach Rob Libera. “We needed to be stronger on the ball, and when they countered offensively, we needed more behind the ball. It’s back to the drawing board and we’ll get ready for tomorrow to play the Rebels in Waukegan.”
The Twisters won’t have much time to recuperate, as they will head 90 miles to the east Sunday to take on the expansion Northern Illinois Rebels at the Lake County Sports Center in Waukegan at 3:00PM CST. The Rampage will return to the pitch next Saturday night when they will travel to Tulsa to take on the league’s other expansion franchise, the Tulsa Revolution at 7:30 p.m.
