Indoor: Twisters End Skid
Exact Revenge Against Tulsa
February 3, 2008
CLEAVLAND -- The Massachusetts Twisters ended a three-game losing streak in an emphatic fashion Saturday, pounding the Tulsa Revolution, 14-7, in front of a crowd of 703 at Soccer City Tulsa.
The Twisters also exacted some sweet revenge, as Tulsa got its first-ever win in franchise history with a last-second goal against the Twisters last week.
“We needed this game badly,” said Twisters coach Rob Libera after the game. “We’ve still got a shot at this thing, and tonight showed that we have it in us to make a run at the championship game.”
Kyle Texiera bagged a career-high four goals in the winning effort for the Twisters (3-6), including a two-point tally in the fourth quarter. Jeff Deren chipped in three goals, including a deuce of his own.
Jesse Williams led the scoring for Tulsa (1-3) with a two-pointer and a one-pointer. Michael Poneys scored a two-pointer, and Dave Leung and Kevin Drouillard each added a one pointer.
Paul Dellostritto earned the win in goal for the Twisters, making 18 saves on 32 Tulsa shots. Steven Hendrix took the loss in goal for Tulsa, making 18 saves as well.
The Twisters return to the field next Saturday night when they host the Cincinnati Excite at the Eastern States Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. The Revolution will play a pair of games next weekend, when they travel to Waukegan to take on the Northern Illinois Rebels Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
