October 26, 2008
The Husson University women’s soccer team completed an undefeated North Atlantic Conference campaign with Saturday’s 2-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington.
The Beavers finished at 7-7 overall and 5-2 in the NAC, while Husson (13-4) improved to 6-0 in league play. Both teams await the NAC Tournament pairings to find out where and when they will be playing.
After a scoreless opening half with both teams having opportunities, the Eagles carried an 18-2 command in shots in the second half. They made it count, with Shelby Bradford (Lee, ME) scoring on a free kick three minutes after intermission and Samantha Homer (Charlton, MA) burying a shot off a midfield push by Megan LaJoie (Van Buren, ME) 12 minutes later for the final score.
Mckell Barnes (Durham, ME) worked the first 78 minutes in goal for the Beavers with five saves before giving way to Crystal Johnson (Skowhegan, ME) after an injury. Johnson finished with a pair of saves.
Husson’s Tatyana Wolterbeek (Wells, ME) stopped two shots in the victory.
