Holy Cross Upends Sacred Heart

Men's Teams Play to Scoreless Draw

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Freshman Ryan Hall scored the game-winning goal in his first collegiate appearance as the Holy Cross men’s soccer team defeated Sacred Heart, 1-0, Tuesday afternoon.

With less than nine minutes remaining in the game, at the 80:20 mark, senior Alejandro Melean sent a free kick towards the right side of the Pioneers’ box, allowing Hall to head the ball into the right corner, scoring his first collegiate goal.

Junior Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) made three saves for Holy Cross, earning his second shutout of the season while Matt Jones had five stops for Sacred Heart.

The Crusaders improve to 2-1-1 on the season while the Pioneers fall to 1-2-0 overall.
