Its a great honor to be named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, said Miller. However, with my attitude and work efficiency, I will continue to work as hard as I can throughout the season and reach the goal of taking home the award again.

Miller, who led the team in scoring (nine goals, 18 points) and game-winning goals (three) last year, also finished the 2008 regular season ranked 66th on the NCAA individual list for goals per game (0.47).

Were all very pleased that the league has chosen to recognize Kyle as one of the Patriot Leagues premier attacking players, said head coach Ted Priestly. He has put himself in a position to be successful because of his work ethic, drive and commitment. He works tirelessly for his teammates, and he leads by example.

American senior Cooper Bryant was chosen as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

In addition to the preseason player of the year announcements, Holy Cross was elected to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll. Colgate, who defeated Holy Cross in the Patriot League championship game last year, is the preseason favorite to capture the league title.

The Raiders received 12 first-place votes and a total of 95 points, edging American, who was picked to finish second with four first-place votes and a total of 86 points. Following the Eagles were Lafayette (60 points), Holy Cross (58 points), Bucknell (57 points), Lehigh (49 points), Navy (26 points) and Army (17 points).

The Crusaders will host an exhibition game against Brown at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium before the 2009 season officially begins.
