Hartford's Aldred League's Best

Senior's Three Goals Earn Her America East Top Honors

October 7, 2008

University of Hartford senior Lauren Aldred was named the America East women’s soccer Player of the Week on Monday.

Aldred, a defender, scored three goals last week while leading the Hawks to a pair of conference wins. All three of her goals came in a 3-1 victory over UMBC on Sunday, the first hat trick of her career and the first by a Hartford player since the 2004 season.

Aldred has started all 12 games for the Hawks (5-4-3 overall, 2-1 America East) this season. She leads the team and the conference with six goals and is tied for second in scoring with 12 points. She also anchors a defense that has posted five shutouts and has the third-lowest goals-against average (0.63) in the America East.

Hartford will next play at Maine Thursday at 3 p.m.
