Everton Football Club’s Everton Academy (U9) is coming to Boston this weekend, challenging five local teams at the New England Soccer School in Amesbury July 28-31 while trying to promote their new concept of online coaching.
Oakwood, Everton America CT, Seacoast United, Mass. Premier and the New Hampshire Phantoms will represent New England against head coach Tosh Farrell’s Everton Academy.
The exhibition games are designed to shed light on Everton’s online coaching techniques. The club that produced Wayne Rooney and housed Joe-Max Moore for a few years uses a team website, evertonway.com, to help coach and groom players in a professional manner. The site uses video clips, audio commentary, diagrams and editorial walkthroughs to reveal the technical and sports science program of the club.
“We’re here to show how we coach our players and demonstrate good practice in the matches,” Farrell said. “First you will see the quality of Everton’s youth players and secondly you can see exactly how we got them there - through evertonway.com.”
The New England Soccer School is including a subscription to the website for all its players this season.
“I am very close to Everton and I believe in their coaching philosophy,” said Ted Dipple, NESS owner and president. “This website opens the doors to what is a very successful club at producing elite players for the Premier League.
“Now, players at my club have the opportunity to learn how to play like the pros, it’s a very special tool in player development.”
