Western Mass. Drops 2-1 Decision

June 15, 2008

After surrendering two goals within the first 16 minutes of the match, the Western Mass. Pioneers could must just a Jeff Deren penalty kick the rest of the way in a 2-1 loss to the Charlotte Eagles on Saturday.

The Pioneers, fresh off their 2-0 victory over Boston Olympiakios in the first round of the US Open Cup, fell to 4-4-3 in the USL’s Second Division.

Deren’s PK strike in the 55th minute was too little too later after Dustin Swinehart’s pair of goals in the 13th and 16th minutes put Charlotte up 2-0.
