Dartmouth's Milligan Gets Call in Scotland
Keeper Earns Start for Greenock Morton FC
July 20, 2009
Former Dartmouth goalkeeper Sean Milligan (Class of ’09) earned an international start Monday for Greenock Morton FC, a Scottish Football League First Division (the country’s second highest level) club.
Currently on a six-month trial with the team, Milligan has been with Morton for just a short time but earned the start in goal when the team’s starting goalie was injured. Morton faced off against Unirea Urziceni, 2008-09 Premier League of Romania Champions.
Milligan had a tremendous career for the Big Green as a part of two Ivy Championships and three NCAA Tournament teams. He earned first team All-Ivy honors as a junior and senior in both 2007 and 2008 along with NSCAA All-Northeast accolades both years.
Milligan graduated as Dartmouth’s all-time leader in career goals against average at just 0.824 and tied for the career shutouts record with 18. He posted a school record nine clean sheets in 2007.
