The Crusaders, of the Premier Development League, return Jason Massie for his second taste of PDL action in 2008 after an impressive campaign last term. The Liverpool native played a pivotal role in coach Paul Baber's squad which captured the 2007 Northeast Division title.

As a player who came through the youth system at Liverpool FC of the English Premiership, the wide midfielder brings a wealth of experience to the Crusaders.

The Crusaders also boast some new local faces including Boston University’s Matt Shea, Joe Cullaro and Dan Shultz; UMass-Lowell’s Edens Chery and Jose Estevas; Vermont’s Will Heywood and Lee Kaoudio; New Hampshire’s Chris Banks; and Dartmouth’s Andrew Olsen.

As for the W-League’s Renegades, Ashlee Pistorius joins the team after a glittering four year career at Texas A&M University. The striker from Illinois capped of her collegiate career with the highest of all honors as she was named the 2007 Honda National Player of the Year.

After scoring 81 goals in four years, Renegades fans can expect Pistorius to pick up where she left off as she begins her W-League career.

A local player to keep an eye on is Franklin Pierce’s Rachel Smith, a shutdown defender out of Chester, N.H.
