Crusaders Fall in Penalties
Eliminated from PDL Postseason with PK Loss to Brooklyn
July 26, 2008
Arthur Kulkov’s penalty kick strike sealed the deal, earning the Brooklyn Knights a 5-3 edge in penalties and ultimately advancing them in the PDL playoffs after a scoreless (0-0) game with the Cape Cod Crusaders Friday night.
Graham Munro, the Cape Cod defender who learned before the match that he had been named to the PDL’s Eastern Conference Team of the Year, got the penalty round started with a goal for the Crusaders.
However, Liam Maloney’s second-round miss would prove costly, as all five Brooklyn players netted goals.
The loss ends the Crusaders’ season while the Knights advance to the second round of the United Soccer League’s Premier Development League playoffs.
