Caneen Goal Sets Pace for Blue Devils
September 2, 2008
Junior Rachel Caneen scored her first goal of the season to lead the Central Connecticut women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the University of New Hampshire on Sunday.
Caneen took a feed from sophomore captain Clio Tregear at 12:43 of the first half for the only goal of the game. Tregear fed Caneen who beat the Wildcat goalkeeper from six yards out to give CCSU (2-1-1) the early lead.
Senior keeper Erin Herd posted her second shutout of the season in the victory, making four saves in the victory, including three in the first half. Herd is now 2-0-1 on the season in net. As a team, the Blue Devils have allowed just three goals through the first four games of the season.
New Hampshire held a 9-8 advantage in shots, but couldn’t find the back of the net.
