Brito Named Player of the Year Again
Second Consecutive Honor for Quinnipiac Senior
November 18, 2008
Quinnipiac University men’s soccer senior Graciano Brito was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Brito becomes just the fifth player to win the award in back-to-back years. He also captured four Brine/NEC Player of the Week accolades, giving him seven Player of the Week honors over the course of his career with the Bobcats.
This year, Brito led the NEC in goals (18), goals per game (1.0), points (39) and points per game (2.17). He ranks among the top five players in the nation in scoring, including leading in goals per game.
He now holds the Quinnipiac record mark for most goals and points, breaking the previous figure held by Everson Maciel in the 2001 season. Earlier in the season Brito set the program’s Division I career record for goals and points. In four years at Quinnipiac, Brito has amassed 40 goals and 92 points.
Brito led the Bobcats to a 5-2-2 conference record this season and a berth in the NEC Tournament for the first time since 2004, although they were eliminated by Fairleigh Dickinson.
