Breakers, CT Reds to Face Off

Affiliates Getting Together for Memorial Day Friendly

May 19, 2009

The Boston Breakers of Womens Professional Soccer (WPS) and the SoccerPlus CT Reds of the Womens Premier Soccer League (WPSL) will play a friendly at Veterans Memorial Stadium in New Britain, Conn. on Memorial Day Monday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m.

The CT Reds is an affiliate of the Breakers and is comprised of local college and club stand out players. The Breakers will be playing another of their affiliates, Boston Aztec, Thursday night in Amesbury, Mass.

The opportunity for our players to play against quality professionals and the requirements they may need to be and stay in that environment themselves is invaluable, said CT Reds head coach Chris Bart-Williams. It will be a wonderful experience that our girls will never forget.

Boston will be without several key players on national team duty, including U.S. nationals Angela Hucles and Heather Mitts, and English stars Kelly Smith and Alex Scott. But there will still be plenty of talent at head coach Tony DiCiccos disposal, including Connecticut native Kristine Lilly.

Admission to the match is $5 for adults or children. Children (17 & under) wearing a SoccerPlus or Breakers jersey will receive free admission. Tickets will be available at the gate starting at 5:30 p.m.
